MGT Preliminary Facilities Report

Future Ready Facilities

The children in Hamilton County Schools deserve the best education possible, and that includes access to excellent learning environments. One of the focus areas of our Future Ready 2023 strategic plan is Efficient and Effective Operations. We understand quality school environments are key to delivering high-quality education. From building maintenance to technology infrastructure, our operations must help to provide a safe and healthy environment that assists in student learning and accelerating student achievement.

Facilities Study

Facilities are a significant challenge in our community. To address how we meet this challenge in the future, MGT, a nationally recognized company specializing in school facilities, is assessing our school buildings and will provide an outside perspective on how we can efficiently improve our schools. Factors for this facilities audit included each schools' enrollment, capacity, utilization, physical condition, educational program suitability, and technology infrastructure.

MGT’s Preliminary Report is simply a first look at current facilities using an assessment of building conditions and capacity, enrollment, projected growth, and technology readiness. The information is not a final report, has not been presented to the Hamilton County Board of Education as a final report, and is not an approved Hamilton County Schools facilities plan. The Hamilton County Board of Education has not approved a final facilities plan for the school district. The report is an initial look at facilities and options that may be considered as MGT Consulting Group prepares a final report to present to the board.

What’s Next?

This preliminary report from MGT was only the beginning of the process. We now invite you to take a survey for parents, staff, and community members by MGT to get the community perspective.

MGT will also hold community meetings and focus groups in the remainder of their assessment plan to gain insight beyond the numbers to better understand the role schools and facilities play in the social fabric of our community before making final recommendations.

We look forward to learning more about the initial findings of the assessment and beginning conversations with staff, families, community members, and political leaders about how we can effectively and efficiently provide quality school facilities for children in Hamilton County.
