News Conference concerning the opening of schools in August scheduled for today

Photo: HCS LogoSuperintendent Dr. Bryan Johnson will hold a news conference today, May 12, at 12:30 p.m. in the board room at the Hamilton County Schools central. Dr. Johnson will announce the formation of a task force to begin plans and preparation to open schools again in August. Dr. Johnson will introduce the leaders of the task force, and they will comment on how plans will be formulated for opening schools again.

Keith Fogleman, chief talent officer for Hamilton County Schools, and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) William T. Brooks, director, JROTC for Hamilton County Schools, will lead the work to plan for the children's return to school in the fall. Fogleman and Lt. Col. Brooks will work with staff, parents, students, business leaders, health professionals, and the community to formulate the plan for schools reopening and children once again learning in the classrooms.

Hamilton County Schools follows Health Department and CDC guidelines for small group gatherings. Due to the limit of 10 individuals in a public gathering, only the speakers and media will be able to enter the news conference area.
