HCS Parent Spotlight: Kelsey GoldisenChattanooga, Tennessee- Kelsey Goldisen, a Pre-K parent at Wolftever Creek Elementary School, is a shining example of how parents can help create a community of belonging and engagement. Kelsey volunteers at the school every Friday, which allows her to grow her connection to the school in all aspects.

Sara Moffett, Parent Volunteer Coordinator at Wolftever, said, “Kelsey’s dedication to volunteering in our school community is so uplifting. Her consistency makes a real difference for our students and staff. It is powerful to see her relationship with her son and how it makes a difference to know she is there.”

When Kelsey's son began Pre-K, it was the first time anyone outside their family was keeping him. Kelsey felt her presence in the school would help his transition, and her son loves having her there to say hi and eat lunch with him. Spending time in her son's school is a stress reliever for Kelsey, as it fills her with joy to connect with her son and help others. “I love meeting my son’s friends and their families. My favorite part of volunteering is being involved with this side of my son’s life and keeping our relationship strong.”

Kelsey has found that volunteering at the school has given her a sense of purpose and fulfillment beyond just being a parent. She runs the "Happy Cart" on Fridays, a cart filled with goodies for teachers to get a pick-me-up at the end of the week. This is a small gesture that has a big impact on the school community and staff morale.

The Wolftever community is fortunate to have Kelsey's unwavering support and dedication. Her commitment to creating a positive and inclusive environment for all students is a shining example of the power of parent involvement in education. Kelsey's efforts have not only impacted her son's experience but have also made a significant difference in the lives of countless other students and staff members.
